About Vet Finance Hub
Financial clarity for the people who served — written by someone who did.
The Editor
20-year U.S. Navy Veteran · Federal GS-13 · Personal Finance Researcher
After two decades of active-duty service and years working as a federal civilian, I got tired of watching fellow veterans make expensive financial mistakes that better information could have prevented. TSP allocation errors that cost six figures over a career. VA home loan benefits left on the table. FERS supplement rules misunderstood. I started writing down what I wish someone had told me — and Vet Finance Hub is the result.
Why this site exists
Most personal finance websites weren't built with veterans or federal employees in mind. They explain 401(k)s when you have a TSP. They describe private health insurance when you're navigating FEHB. They talk about Social Security as your primary retirement income when you've got a FERS pension in the mix. Vet Finance Hub exists to fill that gap. Every article, calculator, and comparison on this site is written specifically for active-duty service members, veterans, and federal civilian employees — people whose financial lives look nothing like the generic advice that dominates the internet.

What we cover
Our editorial standards
Every article on Vet Finance Hub is written or reviewed by someone with firsthand experience navigating these benefits. We cite primary sources — official VA, OPM, and DoD publications — and update content when rules change. We don't publish generic financial content repurposed for a military audience. If an article doesn't have a concrete connection to veteran or federal employee benefits, it doesn't belong here. We also separate content from commerce. When we recommend a product or service, we disclose our relationship clearly. Affiliate relationships never influence which products we cover or how we rate them.
“The average veteran leaves tens of thousands of dollars in benefits unclaimed over a lifetime — not from lack of eligibility, but from lack of clear information. We're here to fix that.”
